A smuggler was killed in a clash with DB police in Shikri frontier under Satkhira Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Monirul Islam (25), son of Kaliani Chhoigoria village under Sadar upazila.
OC of Satkhira DB police Azmal Hossain said DB police conducted a drive in Shikri area as they had information that a group of smugglers were bringing phensidyl from India. Sensing the presence of members of law enforcing agencies, the smugglers attacked the policemen, and they (policemen) opened fire back upon the smugglers that triggered a clash, leaving Monirul Islam injured on the spot.
Critically injured Monirul Islam died on way to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
