Again Islam at fault?

One guy had shot a military Guard at the war memorial museum gate and ran inside the Canadian parliament. The security officials drew their arms - fired numerous shot at him and the intruder got killed. Kevin Vickers – the sergeant at arms of Canadian house of commons, named a hero to gun down the suspect. The intruder was identified as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, born 1982 in Canada as Michael Joseph Hall but later changed his name. At first police were saying more accomplices are with this guy, however, now they confirmed this guy acted alone!

Why? Probably he was converted to Islam- Unknown CNN sources said! US officials say- he converted to Islam, one newspaper said! But Zehaf- Bibeau is not a typical Muslim name? Who cares, as they need the Muslim connection for publicity, not the fact!

As if, when somebody converted to Islam, right away- turned to be a violent person and run to Kill someone! A killing robot! After converted to Islam? Millions of converts are in the world living peacefully, why they are not violent and going to kill anyone? Who is asking this question?

When Norway mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik killed more than 78 young people, nobody blame to his deep conviction to the Christianity for his crime! Nobody told that “ a Christian terrorist - Anders Breivik killed so and so! But, for this Canadian, a distant connection to his Islamic faith is turning to be the main Propaganda point for the press!

Michael has a criminal past- drug possession (2004), uttering death threat ( 2011), an unstable mind, according to his friend! Michael was asked to stop attending prayers at the mosque he attended because elders found his behavior "erratic," a friend told the Globe and Mail. The friend, Dave Bathurst, said Michael once told him the "devil is after him," and frequently talked about supernatural spirits. "I think he must have been mentally ill," Bathurst told the paper. Michael spoke of wanting to go to the Middle East to study. Bathurst, the friend, told the Globe and Mail that he "urged his friend to make sure study was on his mind and not something else." Canadian authorities think Michael had other motives. Recently, they confiscated his passport after learning of his plans to go fight overseas, a U.S. law enforcement official said. When asked what direct link Michael may have had to terrorism, the official said authorities were trying to answer that question.

U.S. law enforcement officials traced back Michael Zehaf-Bibeau's travel to the United States and interviewed people with whom he had come into contact, according to a U.S. official with knowledge of the investigation. He visited at least four times, most recently in 2013, the official said. There's no reason to believe he's connected to any extremists in the United States, the official said.

On Monday October 20th, 25-year-old Martin Rouleau of Saint-Jean-sur-Richeleau, southeast of Montreal, used his car to ram two Canadian soldiers, one of whom later died. Rouleau was a convert to Islam whose online postings had become so radical that the RCMP had confiscated his passport. Again, another guy who converted to Islam, turned to a radical, according to the police! He doesn’t have a clean past as well.

Both of the cases, the person accused to attack and kill army personnel acted alone. Nobody in a mood – Not the police, RCMP, political leaders even the prime minister himself to think – why these guys acted like that! Even prime minister called the incident -a terrorist attack. As if the Syrian or Iraqi fighters attacked Canadian parliament as they hates our Democracy! As NDP leader exclaimed- ‘because of hatred!

Harper government joined with the USA’s ongoing adventure to the Middle east and sent 6 Bombers and army personnel to Bomb the ISIS fighters without any credible threat to Canada. Almost 90 or so individuals – Canadian citizens have their passport confiscated. Are they committed any crime here or abroad? Detonated bomb in Canada or elsewhere? Why then? By doing that – aren’t the Government pushed those individual in the wall? So they reacted violently? Both Assailants - had their passport confiscated- their movement curtailed, under surveillance! with an unstable mind, they got mad! A psychologist suggested. Their behavioural pattern fit to any angry person- helplessness triggers their suicidal fury, they saw army personnel as the symbol of Government or the status quo! Basically they wanted to kill themselves with that helplessness; they can’t go wherever they want to go, aren’t they used to go wherever they want? In the same way, Palestinians right of movement are curtailed – everyday, everyway. Some Palestinian youth also reacted same way – as the 2 Canadian youth did this week! If You push somebody in the wall, and if there is no way out, at some point you will see the similar reaction, that’s obvious!

Not everybody with the same situation will commit suicide or will react in the same way. However, their reaction- is perceived as an ‘Action, (not reaction) and the status quo will move forward with Knee jerk reaction. The bush administration went in the same way after 2011. They will make some new law- invade privacy for the citizens and curtail or suppress the civil rights, make police and security agency more of a threat than peace keeper. Once the Canadian Gov’t paid an Ottawa Engineer millions for the mistake of Csis operatives, for sending him back to Syria, for torture . This time they will cover the mistake- whatever the will do – right or wrong, Probably no ordinary citizen will lose the right to sue them for their wrong doing! They can’t be wrong!

The reality may be is, by sending the army to bomb ISIS, the Harperites brought Syrian- Iraqi conflict in our doorstep, they will never acknowledge that. However, our only hope that the common sense will prevail, and they will stop and think before the knee jerk reaction, and stop to use these isolated incident for taking against the millions innocent. We hope they will have balance between the security and civil rights! After all Canada is not USA, John Christien showed that courage once after 9/11 by denying to join the USA. Hope somebody else will do it again to the Canadian identity and to preserve what is dear to the Canadian.
