BRICS-BIMSTEC PROMOTING DEVLOPMENT OF BANGLADESH

Host India is delighted to the 8th BRICS Summit in Goa on 15-16 October 2016, followed by a first-ever BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit. To play a vital role in promoting international development and cooperation, PM of Bangladesh is also present in this summit. During the summit, leaders of The Bay Of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) member states—Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka — were also present and held talks with BRICS leaders on various issues. All leaders are attending here to conduct discussion on developing cooperation between emerging market economies and developing countries. BRICS and BIMSTEC countries enjoy high economic complementarily as well as vast cooperation potential. BRICS countries have achieved important progress in such fields as pursuing innovative development and eliminating poverty. Both sides should strengthen cooperation in areas including connectivity, trade and investment, maritime economy and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to join forces for development. The two sides also need to enhance communication, learn from beneficial experiences, carry out closer cooperation in international affairs, and improve global economic governance system and work together to address challenges, so as to achieve common development. The friendship between the Chinese people and people of all countries along the Bay of Bengal remains unshakable and becomes even firmer as time goes by. As such, this summit will bring a positive sign of Bangladesh for proper development.
