Five members of a family suffered burn injuries when a fire broke out at their house in Elabari area of South Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, early Friday.
The victims are Ripon, 40, his wife Malida, 33, their daughter Ripa, 15, elder son Manir Hossain, 12 and younger son Abdul Gani, 5.
Locals recovered and admitted them to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Neighbor Rubel and Monir Hossain told banglanews that the fire originated from electric short circuit in the ceiling fan around 4am
Duty doctors of DMCH Burn unit said that condition of the injured is critical. Of them, Ripon received 65 percent burns while Malida sustained 31 percent burns.
Besides, Ripa admitted with 20 percent burns while Monir 22 percent and Abdul Gani 40 percent.
