Myanmar government is constructing a temporary camp for sheltering 30,000 Rohingya after repatriation, state media reported on Monday.
This was discussed during talks between Myanmar and Bangladesh on how to implement a resettlement deal signed in November.
According to media reports, the camp in Hla Po Khaung in northern Rakhine will be a temporary transition base for people who are to be “accepted systematically” for repatriation.
The 124-acre camp will reportedly accommodate about 30,000 people in its 625 buildings, with an additional 100 buildings completed by end of January.
More than 650,000 Rohingyas had fled to Bangladesh in August to escape violence in Myanmar.
